WATERVILLE, Maine – The Thomas College men's lacrosse team fell to New England College, 18-3, in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action on Sunday afternoon at Smith Field.
The Pilgrims move up to 8-4 and a perfect 4-0 in NAC play while the Terriers drop down to 2-4 (2-2 NAC).
NEC stormed out to a big 13-1 lead in the first half, led by six goals from Charles Hacking. Colby Blondin (Colchester, Vt.) scored the Terriers goal early in the first half to tie the game up at one until the Pilgrims responded with 12 unanswered markers. NEC continued strong play throughout the second half, outscoring Thomas 5-2 to end the contest at 18-3.
Hacking led all scorers with seven goals on a game-high 17 shots while Brendan Gruning tallied four goals in the win. Zach Cotoni and Matt Richard combined for ten points.
Blondin finished with two goals and an assist for the Terriers while Kyle Fletcher (Monmouth, Maine) chipped in with a goal and assist.
Anthony Martino made six saves in the win for NEC while Connor Lamberton (Shohola, Pa.) stopped an impressive 30 shots for Thomas.
The Terriers will hit the road Wednesday for a non-conference game at Dean.
