WATERVILLE, Maine – The Thomas College men's lacrosse team earned their first victory of the season in a 19-4 win over Green Mountain College in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action on Saturday afternoon.
In the win, the Terriers move to 1-1 while the Eagles remain winless at 0-4.
The Terriers opened the first quarter with four unanswered goals including two from Johnathan Wilcox (Palmyra, Maine). The Eagles tacked on a pair in the final minutes to cut the lead in half from Deven Rogers and Will Durant. Thomas added five more in the second frame led by Jacob Kendall's (Lewiston, Maine) three goals to take a 9-3 lead at the break.
Throughout the second half, the Terriers offensive surge continued by outscoring the Eagles 10-1 to preserve the 19-4 win.
Wilcox led all scorers with seven goals and two assists followed by Kendall with six goals and five assists. Leo Myers (Bath, Maine) added a hat trick with three goals on seven shots while Colby Blondin (Colchester, Vt.) netted a pair of goals and four assists. Blondin and Conner Blair (North Hartland, Vt.) combined for 14 caused turnovers and 14 ground balls defensively.
Four Eagles each recorded a goal with Rogers, Durant, Dominic Wright, and Chris Surdam. Wright finished with seven caused turnovers and ten ground balls.
Connor Lamberton (Shohola, Pa.) earned the win in goal for Thomas, stopping 16 shots. Chelsea Wimble made ten saves in the loss for Green Mountain.
The Terriers next game will be on Wednesday, March 28 as they travel to Husson.
