NORTHFIELD, Vt. – The Thomas College men's lacrosse team earned a 9-1 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) victory over Johnson State on Saturday evening at Norwich University.
The Terriers snap a two-game skid, improving to 2-5 (1-3 NAC) while the Badgers remain winless at 0-5 (0-2 NAC).
Thomas surged offensively in the second quarter as the Terriers added four goals from four different players to take a 6-0 lead before the break. Michael Small (Brentwood, N.H.), Kade Strout (Richmond, Maine), Johnathan Wilcox (Palmyra, Maine), and Nick Cabral (Bellingham, Mass.) each netted a goal for Thomas. For Cabral it was his first as a Terrier.
The Terriers added two more in the third from Strout and Small to open up the lead to eight. The Badgers broke through in the fourth as Isaiah LeReau scored to put his team on the board. Matt Craig (Benton, Maine) scored his first career goal for Thomas in the final minutes to finish the scoring at 9-1.
Strout led the Terriers with two goals and an assist while Small netted a pair of goals. Blondin and Wilcox combined for two goals, two assists, 22 shots, and 11 groundballs in the victory.
LeReau scored the lone goal for the Badgers with a team-high six shots and four groundballs. Rhys Keenhold caused three turnovers and scooped up two groundballs in the effort.
Junior Connor Lamberton (Shohola, Pa.) earned the victory in goal for Thomas after stopping six shots while Jay Palmisano turned aside 18 shots for Johnson.
The Terriers will host their Senior Day on Wednesday, April 12 as they take on Husson in a 6:30 p.m. matchup at Smith Field.
