MBB: Terriers Open 2020 with 70-55 loss to Bates

WATERVILLE, Maine – The Thomas College men's basketball team fell to Bates College 70-55 on Saturday afternoon at Larry Mahaney Gym.

Lovegeurson Fleurine (Fort Pierce, Fla.) led the Terriers with his fifth double-double of the season, scoring a team-high 15 points and pulling 11 rebounds.

Zach Mackinnon (Kennebunk, Maine) chipped in 12 points, while Demetris Webster (Port St. Lucie, Fla.) added 11 points, 9 rebounds and 3 assists.

The Bobcats outshot Thomas 42.0% to 27.8% from the field to take the victory.

Bates took command early, holding an 18-5 advantage 10 minutes in. Thomas chipped the lead down to six when they made it 25-19 with 2:36 to go in the half, but Bates pulled back to go up 32-22 at the break. The Bobcats kept their distance and moved on with the 70-55 victory.

Thomas will travel to Colby-Sawyer for a non-conference game on Tuesday, January 7 at 7:00 PM.
