MBB: Head Coach Joe Scheuers Resigns

WATERVILLE, Maine – Joe Scheuers has announced his resignation as head men's basketball coach at Thomas College, having accepted the same position at Earlham College in Richmond, Indiana.

"I want to thank everybody at Thomas for making this past year a very special experience for my family," Scheuers said. "The basketball program here accomplished a lot on and off the court this year. The way we came together and developed a true sense of confidence in each other is something that I am very proud of. The future is bright here across the entire athletic department and I wish them nothing but the best."

In his only season at the helm, Scheuers led the Terriers to a 12-12 regular season record and 9-5 conference mark, earning the No. 4 seed in the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Tournament. Thomas defeated MMA in the quarterfinal round, then upset top-seeded UMaine-Farmington in the semifinal before falling to Husson in the NAC Championship. Demetris Webster (Port St. Lucie, Fla.) and Jordan Goodson (Orlando, Fla.) each earned MMBCWA postseason awards, being named to the All-Defensive Team and All-Rookie Team, respectively.

"We are incredibly grateful to Joe for his dedication to the student-athletes and the athletic community at Thomas, and wish him nothing but continued success at Earlham," said Director of Athletics Sara Shaw. "Our men's basketball program is set up for continued long-term success thanks to Joe's efforts."

In the interim, assistant coach Deshon Gaither will serve as the point of contact for the men's basketball program.
