CASTINE, Maine – The Thomas College men's basketball team fell to Maine Maritime Academy 68-63 on Saturday afternoon in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) game.
After a back-and-forth start to the first half, the Terriers used a 10-point run to take a 22-16 lead with 8:13 to play. The Mariners fought back to take a 31-27 lead into halftime.
The Terriers came out strong in the second half to take their biggest lead of the game of 52-43 with 9:58 to play. The Mariners went on a six-point run, cutting the deficit to 52-49 at 8:09, then took the lead two minutes later with back-to-back threes that made it 57-54. Thomas tied the game at 58-58 but the Mariners scored another six-unanswered points to make it 64-58 at 1:07 and went on to the 68-63 win.
Justin Butler (Orlando, Fla.) led the Terriers with 16 points, three rebounds, two steals and an assist off the bench, while Lovegeurson Fleurine (Fort Pierce, Fla.) chipped in with 14 points, nine rebounds and an assist.
The Terriers will host Emmanuel College on Tuesday, January 29 at 7:00 PM at Larry Mahaney Gym.
