SALEM, Mass. – The Thomas College men's basketball team dropped an 88-80 decision to Salem State on Saturday evening.
Salem State opened up the game with an 11-4 advantage in the first three and a half minutes, then extended the lead to 16-7 by the 14:53 mark. Thomas responded with a quick 7-0 run that pulled them within two at 16-14 just over a minute later. The Vikings took back control over the next five minutes, pulling ahead 33-19. The Terriers chipped away through the remainder off the half, bringing the deficit down to 46-39 at the half.
The Terriers continued to climb back early in the second, bringing the score to 54-51 at the 15:28 mark. Thomas was able to get within one twice in the remainder of the game, but Salem held onto the lead on both occasions and pulled away with the 88-80 lead.
Thomas had five players score in double-digits, with Demetris Webster (Port St. Lucie, Fla.) leading the way with 19 points. Jordan Goodson (Orlando, Fla.), Tyler Nixon (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) and Michael Gilman (Windham, Maine) each scored 12, with Goodson adding 10 rebounds for his first career double-double. Lovegeurson Fleurine (Orlando, Fla.) was the final Terrier in double-digits, scoring 10.
Thomas will take on Endicott at Salem State at 4:00 PM on Sunday, December 30.
