Big First Half Leads Mules over Terriers, 81-66

WATERVILLE, Maine – The Thomas College men's basketball team dropped an 81-66 non-conference contest to Colby College on Tuesday evening at Wadsworth Gymnasium.

In the defeat, the Terriers now sit at 1-2 while the Mules remain unbeaten at 3-0.

Colby jumped out and held a solid lead throughout the first half with strong shooting from behind the three-point line.  In the half, the Mules knocked down seven threes to take a 43-29 advantage.  The Terriers could not capitalize at the charity stripe as they went 6-for-12 from the line before the break.

Thomas stepped up in the second half on nine points from Zach Mackinnon (Kennebunk, Maine) and Carlos Gonzalez (Kennebunk, Maine) but the early deficit could not be overcome.

Matt Hanna led the Mules offense with a game-high 20 points along with four rebounds while Alex Dorion netted 15 points off the bench.

Gonzalez finished with a double-double for the Terriers on 19 points and 11 boards along with four blocks and three assists.  Willie Grant (Philadelphia, Pa.) chipped in with 14 points and two rebounds.

The Terriers will head to Husson on Tuesday, November 28 as they open their conference schedule at 7:30 p.m.
