In the opening seven minutes, Thomas jumped out to an early 12-4 lead on a balanced offensive attack from four different scorers. Machias answered with a 9-0 run to take the lead midway through the first half led by Darius Green with five points during the span.
The Terriers began to pull away later in the half as back-to-back buckets from Willie Grant (Philadelphia, Pa.) and a three from Zach Mackinnon (Kennebunk, Maine) opened the lead to 29-22. Gonzalez closed out the half with five straight points to give his team a 34-28 advantage at the break. Travonne Thompson kept his team in the game with his seven points, and eight rebounds.
Early in the second half, the Terriers' offense put the pressure on as Matt Allen (Barre, Vermont) and John Morgan (Sanford, Maine) combined for 27-of-51 points in the frame to pace the Terriers to an 85-67 victory. Demetris Webster (Port St. Lucie, Fla.) provided a late spark off the bench for Thomas as he dished out six assists. Jesse Gray added 16 points in the half for the Clippers as it was not enough to keep his team within reach.
Following Gonzalez's triple-double, Morgan scored 16 points and pulled down 12 boards for a double-double while Allen finished with 15 points, five rebounds, and two assists.
