WATERVILLE, Maine – The North Atlantic Conference (NAC) has announced its weekly awards and freshman guard Zach Mackinnon (Kennebunk, Maine / Kennebunk) has been named NAC Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week.
Mackinnon helped the Terriers earn the right to play in their first NAC championship game since the 2009 season, as he averaged 12.7 points throughout the tournament. In a 77-71 quarterfinal win over Colby-Sawyer, the rookie tallied 14 points and one assist. Then in a semifinal win over Castleton, he recorded 15 points on five three-point field goals, one rebound and one assist. In a tough NAC Championship loss to Husson, the guard posted nine points going 3-for-4 from behind the arch and two rebounds.
Throughout the 2016-17 season, Mackinnon finished with 260 points in 28 games, averaging 9.3 points per game. He also hit 63-of-157 (40.1%) from behind the arch, placing him ninth in the conference in three-point field goal percentage.
