WATERVILLE, Maine --- Thomas College senior guard Levi Barnes (Skowhegan, Maine / Skowhegan) has been named the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) men's basketball player of the week for the week ending Sunday, January 31, 2016.
Barnes averaged 28.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, 1.0 assists and 1.0 steals per game while shooting 64.7 percent (22-of-34) from the field and 91.7 percent (11-of-12) from the line in wins over Johnson State and Lyndon over the weekend. In a 95-74 win at Johnson State on Friday, he tallied 36 points while shooting an impressive 77.8 percent (14-of-18) from the floor. He also hit seven of eight free throw attempts and added four rebounds and one steal in the 21-point victory. The senior then netted 21 points on 8-of-16 shooting, to go along with four rebounds, two assists, and one steal in an 80-71 win over Lyndon.
Barnes ranks sixth on Thomas' all-time scoring list with 1,682 points and needs just 51 points over the Terriers' final six regular-season games to move into second place.
Thomas (11-8, 7-5 NAC) takes a five-game winning streak into this weekend's home games against Castleton (Friday, 7:30 p.m.) and Green Mountain (Saturday, 3 p.m.).
