PURCHASE, N.Y. – The Thomas College field hockey team fell to Manhattanville 2-1 in a New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) game on Sunday afternoon.
After a scoreless first, the Valiants got on the board in the second with a goal by Lexi Crites off a penalty corner play to make it 1-0 at the half. Manhattanville doubled their lead in the 36th minute on a score by Robin Boot.
Thomas cut the lead to 2-1 early in the fourth with Sydney Plourde's (Lisbon, Maine) first career goal that came off a feed from Allie Gregoire (Kennebunk, Maine). The Terriers were unable to convert on late scoring opportunities and fell 2-1.
Zoe Fillebrown picked up the win for the Valiants, stopping four shots on goal. MacKenzie Oberholzer (Hancock, Md.) took the loss, making four saves for the Terriers.
Thomas will host Husson in an NECC game on Wednesday, October 9 at 7:00 PM on Bernatchez Field.
