SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. – The Thomas College field hockey team fell to Mount Holyoke 4-2 on Saturday afternoon in a non-conference game.
The Lyons got on the board in the first, with Kass Lawrence scoring in the 13th minute. Mollee Malboeuf would double their lead eight minutes later in the second, bringing the score to 2-0 at halftime.
Kylie Brooks and Abby Baldwin each scored for the Lyons in the second half to make it a 4-0 lead. The Terriers pushed back late, with Lindsey Gregoire (Kennebunk, Maine) scoring twice in six minutes to make it a 4-2 final.
Thomas earned the larger share of opportunities in the contest, out shooting the Lyons 19-12, putting 12 of their shots on goal. The Terriers also held a 9-8 advantage in penalty corners.
Morgan Turner got the win in the cage for Mount Holyoke, making twelve saves. Leah Kruse (Norridgewock, Maine) took the loss, stopping three shots.
Thomas will visit the University of Southern Maine on Sunday, September 15 for a 3:00 PM game.
