FH: Terriers Move on to NECC Championship with 7-2 win over Becker

HENNICKER, N.H. – The Thomas College field hockey team erupted for seven goals to advance to the NECC Championship game with a 7-2 win over Becker on Saturday.

Britney Gregoire (Kennebunk, Maine) put Thomas on the board in the 10th minute, scoring her 14th of the season to make it 1-0. Haley Thebarge (Smithfield, Maine) added another, assisted by Lindsey Gregoire (Kennebunk, Maine), in the 18th minute to put Thomas up 2-0. Lindsey and Allie Gregoire (Kennebunk, Maine) scored back-to-back goals in less the two minutes to make it 4-0 in the 28th minute. Becker got on the board in the final minutes of the first to make it 4-1, but Krysta Porter (Unity, Maine) scored her first of the season with eight seconds left in the half to put Thomas back up by four at the break.

Tiffany Weeks (Kennebunk, Maine) made it 6-1 off a feed from Thebarge two minutes into the second, then Britney Gregoire scored her second of the game to put Thomas ahead 7-1. The Hawks added one in the 55th minute to make the final score 7-2.

Leah Kruse (Norridgewock, Maine) picked up the win, making one save in 40 minutes of action. Alexis Bowman (Freedom, Maine) came in for the final 30 minutes, making one save.


The Terriers will take on Husson in the NECC Championship on Sunday, November 4 at 12:00 PM at New England College.
