NAC Semifinal Preview: Terriers Face Beavers for Third Straight Year

WATERVILLE, ME – The Thomas College field hockey team will travel to the University of Maine at Farmington for a North Atlantic Conference East Semifinal matchup at 2:00 p.m.

The two teams are facing each other for the third straight year in the NAC East Semifinals.  In their 2014 and 2015 playoff meetings, the Beavers won both games 2-1 to advance to the championship.  In the schools' history, the two teams have also met in the 2003 NAC Semifinals and 2009 NAC Quarterfinals where the beavers won 2-0 and 3-0.  A victory for the Terriers would be the first NAC postseason win in program history.

Less than two weeks ago, the teams met for a NAC regular season matchup at Thomas as part of homecoming and family weekend.  The Beavers shutout the Terriers in the contest, 2-0, and scored the two goals in the 24th and 27th minute.

Senior forward Gabby Martell has led the Terriers offense this season with 11 goals and three assists for 25 points.  Freshman Kelci Faulkingham (three goals, five assists) and sophomore Katie Taylor (five goals and one assist) each have 11 points this season.  Senior Abbie Charrier, fresh off her first shutout 2016, will be the last line of defense for the Terriers.

The Terriers will look pull off the upset on the road, leaving their mark in Thomas field hockey history.
