HENNIKER, NH – The Thomas College field hockey team ended a seven-game skid with an 8-2 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) victory over New England College on Saturday evening.
In the win, the Terriers improve to 3-7 (1-1 NAC) overall while the Pilgrims fall to 3-8 (0-2 NAC). Freshman Kelci Faulkingham (Belfast, Maine / Belfast) netted two goals and dished out two assists leading the Terriers.
Thomas would strike early as Abigail Dunn (Gardiner, Maine / Gardiner) would put in her third goal of the season assisted by Tiffany Weeks (Kennebunk, Maine / Kennebunk) just 3:31 into the game. NEC would knot the game at 1-1 in the 25th minute as Taylor Daileanes would rebound in her own shot. The Terriers would then net three unanswered first half goals in a six-minute span, including scores by Katie Taylor (Lebanon, Maine / Noble), Gabby Martell (Gorham, Maine / Gorham), and Faulkingham.
Thomas would tack on two quick goals in the second half building their lead to 6-1. NEC would get another score off a rebound as leading scorer Aislinn deHorsey would find the back of the net for her fourteenth time this season. Thomas would get goals by Taylor and Faulkingham late solidifying the 8-2 victory.
Abbie Charrier (Waldo, Maine / Mt. View) earned the victory in goal for the Terriers making two saves in the first half, while Jessica Russell (Pembroke, N.H. / Bishop Brady) played the second half also stopping two shots. Michaela Clark turned aside 17 shots in the loss for the Pilgrims.
Thomas will host non-conference opponent Saint Joseph's (Maine) on Tuesday, October 4, in a 6:00 p.m. contest at Bernatchez Field.
