BOSTON, MA – The Thomas College Field hockey team fell to Simmons College, 2-1, in a non-conference matchup on Saturday afternoon in Boston.
The Terriers fall to a 2-3 record in the loss while the Sharks improve to 2-2.
Freshman Kelci Faulkingham (Belfast, ME / Belfast) got the Terriers on the board in the 15th minute for her first collegiate goal on an assist from Tiffany Weeks (Kennebunk, ME / Kennebunk) and an early 1-0 lead. Simmons answered back before the half as Olivia Trull (Lowell, Mass. / Lowell) tied the game for the Sharks in the 27th minute.
The game winning goal for the Sharks came in the 40th minute of the second half as Missie Maiewski (Northampton, Mass. / Northampton) netted her first goal of the season from Hannah Scott (Claremont, N.H. / Stevens).
Senior goalkeeper Abbie Charrier (Waldo, ME / Mt. View) stopped seven shots in the loss for the Terriers while Audrey Simmons (Fairhaven, Mass. / Fairhaven) made three saves in the Sharks victory. Simmons outshot Thomas 12-5 while the Terriers held a 10-7 advantage in penalty corners.
The Terriers will rest for a week as their next game will be the home opener on Saturday, September 17, as they face Mount Holyoke in a 12:00 p.m. contest at Bernatchez Field.
