Thomas Field Hockey Ends Drought Against Husson; Terriers No. 3 Seed in NAC Tournament

BANGOR, ME --- The Thomas College field hockey team closed out its regular season with a 1-0 North Atlantic Conference victory at Husson on Saturday.

The win is the first for Thomas over Husson since 2004, ending a 16-game losing streak to the Eagles.

The teams played to a stalemate early on, but the Terriers broke through at the 14:40 mark when senior forward Taylor Bergeron (Lyman, Maine / Massabesic) scored the lone goal of the game with an assist from first-year midfielder Katie Taylor (Lebanon, Maine / Noble).

Husson came into the second half playing aggressively to try and put a goal on the board but Thomas netminder Abbie Charrier (jr., Waldo, Maine / Mount View) stopped each shot she faced in the half to record Thomas' first shutout of Husson since 1997.

Husson outshot Thomas, 11-8, with both placing six shots on goal.

Charrier registered six saves in the win and Husson netminder Kaitlin Dolloff racked up five of her own in the loss.

NAC Tournament Pairings Announced
The win left Thomas and Husson tied with UMaine-Farmington atop the final league standings with matching 4-1 marks and 1-1 records against each other.

Once the NAC's predetermined tiebreaking procedures were applied, Husson (6-9 overall) was awarded the top seed. UMF (9-4) then received the No. 2 seed over Thomas (8-8) due to the Beavers' 2-1 win over the Terriers on October 10.

On Saturday, October 31, Husson will host No. 4 Colby-Sawyer (8-7 overall, 2-3 NAC), while No. 3 Thomas will travel to No. 2 UMaine-Farmington. Game times will be determined early next week.

Semifinal winners will square off for the conference championship on Saturday, November 7, at a time to be determined at the site of the higher seed.
