WATERVILLE, ME- Thomas defeated Lasell College in a North Athletic Conference (NAC) field hockey contest on Sunday, 3-2 during senior day. Brittany Premo led the team with five shots and netted in a goal in the winning effort.
The first half saw back and forth play from both teams in efforts to gain momentum. The Terriers gained a one goal advantage after a penalty corner at the 13:11 mark in the first stanza. Miranda Tinsman made a pass across the arch to Lauren Hachey who shot through traffic to beat the goalie to the right side of the cage. Thomas went into the half with a 1-0 lead despite being outshot by the Lasers, 8-5.
Lasell started the scoring just two minutes into the second half after Ashley Gleason passed to top right of the circle to Samantha Smithers to knot the game at one a piece. The Terriers would answer right back with a goal of their own when Michelle Greene gathered her own rebound to find the back of the cage and give Thomas the 2-1 lead.
With 11 minutes left in the game, Premo notched in a rebounded goal after her first shot was turned away by the Lasers goalkeeper. A minute later, Gleason picked up her second assist of the game when she found teammate Nikita Soares who netted in a goal just inside the circle to cut the Lasers deficit to one. The Terriers defense would hold off the Lasers attack to solidify the 3-2 victory.
Thomas will await final seeding for the NAC playoffs.
