Hockey Prevails in Season Finale

Nashua, N.H. – The Thomas College field hockey team used a pair of goals by first year Alei Collier to defeat host Rivier College 7-1 in a North Atlantic Conference match-up. With the win the Terriers improve to 6-11 (4-5 NAC) while the hosting Raiders fall to 6-11 (1-8 NAC).

The Terriers got on the board first when senior Brittany Moore netted an unassisted tally inside the 4 minute mark. The lead would be extended to 2-0 as Collier capitalized on a pass from junior Bre Girard. Girard pushed the Terriers lead to 3-0 just two minutes later when she score her first career goal off of an assist from first year Alyssa Eugley.

First year Brittany Premo added an unassisted goal before sophomore Lauren Hachey capped the five goal first half as she knocked in a goal off a corner; junior Miranda Tinsman provided the assist.

The Terriers held a 5-0 lead at halftime.

Rivier got on the board in the second half when Molly Thagouras hit the net off a penalty stroke, making it a 5-1 game.

The Terriers continued to pour it on as sophomore Callie Joseph put the Terriers up 6-1 when she scored off of a Girard assist. Collier finished off the scoring with her second goal in the final 16 minutes wrapping up a 7-1 win for the Terriers.

The combination of sophomore goalkeepers Sofia Sourgiadakis and Jasmine Bishop stopped 15 of the Raiders 16 shots in the game.

The Terriers will wait for the NAC to announce who they will face in the conference tournament.
