Thomas drops 8-0 decision to Kean

Waterville, Maine—The Thomas College Field Hockey team fell 8-0 in today's non-conference match against the visiting Cougars of Kean University.  Sophomore Goal Keeper Jasmine Bishop recorded nine saves for the Terriers against 15 Cougar shot attempts.

The Cougars' relentless offensive attack notched five goals in the first half.  Olivia Triano would jump start the Cougars' offense when she found the back of the goal at the 12:14 mark off of a corner from Cat Dowling.  At the 14:28 mark Triano would score off of another corner.  At the 23:07 mark Kelly Bachovchin also found the back of the goal off of a corner taken by Triano.  Two minutes later the Cougars struck again with a goal from Dowling.  Triano struck once more for the final goal of the half at the 29:50 mark.

Bishop was able to slow the Cougars' offensive strike in the second half with assistance from sophomore Lauren Hachey who added solid defensive play.  Three Cougar's would strike in the second half.  Lauren Conrad would start the scoring for the Cougars at the 44:06 mark with an unassisted goal.  The Terriers were able to hold off the offensive attack for fifteen minutes before Briana Mace would score. Triano would strike for the final goal of the game at the 68:48 mark.  The Terriers' were able to create four offensive opportunities in the second half due to ability of first year Brittany Premo to play the ball well in transition.

Sofia Sourgiadakis shoulders the loss for the Terriers; who fall to 1-4 (0-0 NAC). Recording the win for the Cougars is Kylie Vaughn-Kuehl.  The Cougars improve to 2-2 (0-0 NJAC).

The Terriers travel to Daniel Webster on Thursday, September 15, 2011 in a non-conference contest.  The Cougars take the field at home in a conference game against Montclair State University on Tuesday, September 13, 2011.
