Danbury, Conn. – The Thomas College field hockey team got a solid outing from goalies Sofia Sourgiadakis and Jasmine Bishop, in a 3-0 loss to Western Connecticut State. The pair accounted for 11 saves, against 26 Colonials shots. The loss drops the Terriers to 0-3 (0-0 NAC) on the young season, while the Colonials improve to 2-0.
The Colonials got on the board in the 21st minute when Lauren Atkinson put in a loose ball into the back of the cage. Seven minutes later the Colonials pushed ahead 2-0 when Nicole Andreasen hit the goal off of a stolen Terriers pass.
At the half the scoreboard read 2-0, West Conn.
With 12 minutes remaining in the contest Victoria Vitale finished off the games scoring to make it a 3-0 game.
West Conn. led the Terriers in offensive statistics, recording a 26-to-7 shot advantage and a 15-to-3 corner advantage.
The Terriers will look to get their first win of the season when they host Regis (Mass.) in a non-conference match up on Saturday September 10th.
