Dudley, Mass. – The Thomas College field hockey team fell to the Bison of Nichols College in a non-conference match up this afternoon, 4-2.
The Bison (1-0) struck early with two goals scored before half time and continued with two more unanswered goals in the second. Thomas (0-2, 0-0 NAC) rallied for two goals three minutes apart shortly thereafter, first from senior Brittany Moore and followed by a corner set goal by Kristin Masessa.
Bison senior forward Krista-Jean Forand put Nichols on the board less than five minutes into the game in impressive fashion, collecting her own rebound off a defensive save by Thomas senior Cathleen Cloran and redirecting it into the net at 30:43.
Late in the half, Nichols junior Barbara Roy edged the Bison ahead with her first of two goals on the day.
With a two goal lead at the start of the second half, Roy pushed the Bison ahead by three at the 32:10 mark.
Bison first year Avery Orszulak ended Nichols scoring at the 26:57 mark.
Moore got the Terriers on the board that the 25:09 mark when she finished an Ali Kriegel pass, making it a 1-4 game. The Terriers found the back of the goal again when Moore played in a corner to junior Miranda Tinsman, who carried it in briefly before passing to Masessa for the goal at the 22:11 mark.
Sophomore goal keeper Sofia Sourgiadakis made seven saves and classmate Jasmine Bishop stopped six shots.
Nichols goal keeper Molly Melanson takes the win, while Thomas' Sourgiadakis shoulders the loss for the Terriers.
The Terriers will finished up their two game road trip with a non-conference match up with Western Connecticut State tomorrow afternoon at 12 p.m.
