Field Hockey Voted Sixth in the Preseason Poll

Waterville, Maine – The Thomas College field hockey team has been voted to the sixth position in the North Atlantic Conference's Field Hockey Coach's Preseason Poll.  The Terriers earned 47 points and are positioned behind UMaine at Farmington who earned 62 points. Husson captured first place with 94 points and five first place votes.

The 2011 Terriers will feature eight returners from the 2010 team that went 5-11 overall and 3-4 in the NAC, including NAC Second Team All-Conference forward, senior Ali Kriegel.  The Terriers welcomed nine new comers for the 2011 campaign, including transfers Lauren Hachey (Sophomore) and Miranda Tinsmond (Junior). Hachey comes to Thomas after a stint at the University of Southern Maine and Tinsmond transfered in from new conference foe New England College.

Head Coach Andrea Thebarge also made some changes to her coaching staff for the 2011 season; brining in Husson graduate ('11) Jillian Morin. Morin was a four year member of the Husson field hockey team and served as team captain from 2009-to-2010. Morin was named Frist Team All-Conference in 2010 and was part of two NAC Championship teams (2009 and 2010). Morin graduated from Husson this past spring with a Bachelor Degree and Biology.

The Terriers will kick off their 2011 season with a non-conference match up against Husson at home on September 1st.
