Thomas wins on the road 6-1 over NAC opponent Rivier

Nashua, NH -- The Terriers finished up their weekend away from Waterville with a 6-1 victory over Rivier Sunday afternoon. The win put Thomas 5th in the NAC with only one more conference game to play this season.

The Terriers jumped out ahead in the first half when Ally Kennedy (Readfield, ME) scored 30 minutes into the game. Right before the half ended Thomas got another goal when Claire Wyman (Dexter, ME) passed to Sarah Estes (Brewer, ME) to put the Terriers ahead 2-0 at the end of the half.

Rivier would get their lone goal ten minutes into the second half when Lindsay Rettenmeier ran down the field to cut the lead to only a goal. But Thomas would score four more times with goals from Kennedy, Brittany Moore (North Berwick, ME), and two goals from Kellie Martel (Cambridge, ME).

Thomas outshot Rivier 31-12 while Megan Denby (Copiague, NY) and Sophia Sourgiadakis (Littleton, NH) each played a half in goal with the win credited to Denby. Rivier goaltender Meghan Stephen made 11 saves for the 1-11 Raiders.

The Terriers (5-8, 3-3 NAC) will travel next to face University of Maine at Farmington in a conference match, Wednesday October 20, 2010 at 3:30pm.
