Castleton, VT - - The Thomas College Field Hockey fell to North Atlantic Conference foe Castleton State 4-1. Senior Goal Keeper Megan Denby (Copiague, N.Y.), stopped 11 shots in the loss as the Terriers fall to 4-8 (2-3, NAC). Castleton improves to 9-5 (3-2, NAC).
Castletonâ€™s Courtney Nolan served a corner in the fourth minute of play to Sarah Flore at the point, for an early 1-0 lead. Rachel Preusser found the goal to take a 2-0 10 minutes later. Kealy Chipman sent a shot that was turned away by Denby, but Preusser was able to put it in the goal off the rebound.
The Terriers scored their lone goal of the game with over five minutes remaining in the first half, as Ali Kriegel (Winslow, Maine) scored from just inside the striking circle.
Nolan scored 12 minutes into the second half, and Blake Wardwell followed with a goal of her own with 13 minutes remaining.
The Terriers are back in action tomorrow when they travel to Rivier for a 3pm start.
