Farmington, ME -- The Thomas College Field Hockey Team (5-9, 3-4 NAC) fell to University of Maine at Farmington (11-4, 5-1 NAC) 3-2 in overtime in non- conference action today. Kristin Masessa (Montville, ME) and Sarah Estes (Brewer, ME) were both able to find the goal and Senior Goal Keeper Megan Denby (Copiague, NY) was able to stop 24 of the 27 shots on goal she saw.
UMF started the scoring off when Hattie Laliberte found that back of the net in the 13th minute. The Terriers would fire back with the tying goal from Masessa off of a Ali Kriegel (Winslow, Maine) assist in the 16th minute. The Beavers would take the lead again when Elise Theriault put one in the goal at 25:26.
At halftime UMF lead the Terriers 2-1.
The Terriers opened overtime with a penalty corner and a Masessa shot was knocked away by the UMF Goal Keeper. UMFâ€™s first shot in the extra session was fired by Emma Deans and slipped past Thomas Goal Keeper Denby for the 3-2 (OT) victory.
The Terriers will be back in action as they honor their Senior Class this Saturday at the final home game of the season. The action will start at 11am when the Terriers host St. Joseph's (ME) for a North Atlantic Conference match up.
