Newton, MA -- The Thomas College field hockey team (4-6, NAC 2-1) followed up a big win over Simmons College yesterday with another big win against conference foe Lasell College (4-7, NAC 0-4) defeating the Lasers 5-4. The win improves the Terriers to 4-6 and 2-1 in the North Atlantic Conference.
The Terriers were able to strike first when Kristin Masessa (Montville, ME) found Clair Wyman (Dexter, ME) for the first goal of the game in the 10th minute. The Lasers where able to answer with a goal of their own in the 23rd minute when Hannah Cebry hit Tia Pratt for the equalizer of a corner. The Lasers took the lead in the 25th minute with a Hillary Joseph goal assisted by Sara Jannuzzi and Natasha Wood. At half time the Terriers hit the locker room trailing the Lasers 2-1.
The Terriers where able to strike back in the 42nd minute when Ali Kriegel (Winslow, ME) found Sarah Estes (Brewer, ME) tying the game at two all. Lasell answered back in the 53rd minute when Hanna Cebry found the back of the goal to take a 3-2 lead. The Terriers tied the game 3-3 with a Masessa goal in the 57th minute. The Lasers took the lead again in the 63rd minute with Hilary Joseph's second goal of the game. The Terriers tied the game 4-4 in the 64th minute with an Ally Kennedy (Readfield, ME) goal.
Masessa was able to find the back of the box in the 65th minute off of a Kriegel assist for the eventual game winner. When the clock read 70:00 the Terriers had defeated the Laser 5-4.
Masessa led the Terriers in scoring today with 2 goals and an assist. Goalkeeper Megan Denby (Copiague, NY) had 9 saves against 13 shots on goal.
The Terriers are back in action at home on Wednesday when the Eagles of Husson University travel down for a 3:30pm game.
