Auburn, Maine – The Thomas College Ice Hockey team fell to Central Maine Community College 3-1 on Saturday evening at the Norway Savings Bank Arena.
Central Maine jumped to an early lead over the Terriers in first period. The Mustangs were able to score two quick goals and held a 2-0 lead at the first intermission.
Thomas cut Central Maine's lead in half when Jaymen Swygert (Summerville, S.C.) beat the goaltender's glove late in the second period. Both teams traded scoring opportunities throughout the second period, but the Mustang's clutched a 2-1 lead over Terriers at the second intermission.
Thomas fought hard to even the score in the third period, but a penalty plagued period suppressed their chances. Central Maine was able to extend their lead to two goals once again, making it a 3-1 final.
Miloslav Fuksa (Czech Republic) took the loss in goal for Thomas.
Thomas will play Central Maine Community College next on Tuesday, February 5 for an 8:10 PM game at the Camden National Bank Ice Vault.
