BIDDEFORD, Maine – The Thomas College ice hockey team celebrated a 6-3 win at the University of New England on Sunday night.
The Terriers went down late in the first period, giving up a goal to the Nor'easters to go into the first intermission down 1-0.
Matthew Deveaux (Brunswick, Maine) launched a wrist shot past the Nor'easter's goaltender to tie the game 1-1 early in the second period. The scoring continued for the Terriers when Thomas Arps (Monmouth, Maine) found Deveaux to give the Terriers their first lead eight minutes into the second. Jaymen Swygert (Summerville, SC) extended the Terriers lead with his first two career goals in less than a 30-second span to make it 4-1. Jake Stevens (Presque Isle, Maine) also picked up his first score of his career to close out the second period with a 5-1 lead for Thomas
The Nor'easters were able to sneak two goals past goaltender Miloslav Fuksa (Czech Republic) midway through the third period, but the Terriers responded with a late goal from Justin Wentworth (China, Maine) to make it a 6-3 final.
Thomas will host Saint Joseph's College on Friday, November 22 at 9:00 PM at the Camden National Bank Ice Vault.
