HKY: Kappelmann's Hat-Trick Leads Terriers to 10-1 Rout of Monks

HALLOWELL, Maine – The Thomas College ice hockey team defeated Saint Joseph's 10-1 on Friday evening at the Camden National Bank Ice Vault.

After a scoreless opening seven minutes, Ryan Kappelmann (Auburn, Maine) scored to make it 1-0. Matthew Deveaux (Brunswick, Maine) made it 2-0 four minutes later, then added another in the final minutes after a goal by Ethan Scripture (Bangor, Maine) to make it 4-0 after one.

Alex Berard (Winslow, Maine) made is 5-0 less than two minutes into the second, then him and Tito Naranja (Fort Kent, Maine) each scored shorthanded goals on the same pentalty kill to make it 7-0. John Simonetti (Minneapolis, Minn.) scored to make it 8-0, followed by two goals by Kappelmann to complete the hat-trick and send Thomas into the second intermission up 10-0.

The Monks scored one late to make the final score 10-1.

Despite the lopsided score, Thomas goaltender Tom Green (Biddeford, Maine) was challenged often in net, making numerous big saves.
