HOLLOWELL, Maine – The Thomas College ice hockey team defeated Central Maine Community College 5-2 on Saturday night at the Camden National Bank Ice Vault.
The Mustangs struck first with seven to go in the opening period, but Thomas answered back two minutes later with a goal by Matthew Deveaux (Brunswick, Maine) assisted by Alex Berard (Winslow, Maine) and Ryan Ambrozy (Athol, Mass.). Thomas took the lead heading into the first intermission when Justin Wentworth (China, Maine) scored with two minutes to go in the period to make it 2-1.
CMCC evened it up at 2-2 four minutes in, but the Terriers had an answer again with a goal by Berard three minutes later to make it 3-2. Ambrozy and Cameron Bigelow (West Gardiner, Maine) each scored late in the second and, following a scoreless third, Thomas came away with the 5-2 victory.
Tom Green (Biddeford, Maine) earned the win in net for Thomas, allowing just two goals.
Thomas will visit Springfield at 1:30 PM on Sunday, December 9.
