Late Lead Slips Away as Terriers Fall to Bobcats, 3-2

WATERVILLE, Maine – The Thomas College club ice hockey allowed three unanswered goals in a 3-2 loss to Bates College on Thursday night in American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) action at the Camden National Bank Ice Vault.

The Terriers jumped out to an early lead in the opening minutes of the first period as Colby Blondin beat Bobcat goalie Matt Flanagan just under the blocker on a centering feed from Matthew Deveaux.  Midway through the first frame Thomas capitalized on the power play as Tim McDermott deflected in a Zach Gagne shot from the point to take a 2-0 lead.  The Bobcats cut their deficit in half before the end of the period on a goal from David Katzman.

After a scoreless second period, Bates tied the game up at the six minute mark as Andrew Cahill beat Thomas goaltender Tom Green.  Just over two minutes later, the Bobcats netted the game-winner on a shorthanded goal by Nick Barker.

Flanagan stopped 30 shots in goal for Bates in the win while Green turned aside 26 shots for the Terriers.  Thomas outshot the Bobcats 32-29 throughout the contest.

The Terriers will host their senior night on Friday, January 26 as they face WPI at 9:10 p.m.
