LEWISTON, Maine – The Thomas College club ice hockey team dominated Bates College, 13-4, in an American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) matchup on Friday evening.
Offensively, both teams exploded for a combined nine first period goals as the Terriers took a 6-3 lead. The Bobcats opened the scoring on a goal from Bob Xu. Dicey responded with the first of his four goals to tie the game up. Ricky LaBelle put Bates back up 2-1 before Dicey netted his second Thomas, knotting the scoring up at 2-2.
The Terriers poured it on later in the period as they tallied four more goals from Lawson, Bryce Lamontagne (Saco, Maine), Tim McDermott (Durham, Conn.), and Dicey. Andrew Cahill netted the third goal for Bates.
In the second period, Dicey scored the lone goal to put his team up 7-3 for his fourth of the game.
Thomas continued to score in the final frame as they lit up the Bobcats four six more goals. Two more goals from Lawson along with one each from Matthew Deveaux (Brunswick, Maine), Ryley Austin (Lisbon, Maine), Matt Jolicoeur (Oakland, Maine), and Ben Wheeler (Hermon, Maine) finished the scoring for the Terriers. David Katzman added the final goal for Bates to finish at 13-4.
Michael Small (Brentwood, N.H.) earned the victory in between the pipes for Thomas while Matt Flanagan shouldered the loss for Bates.
The Terriers next contest will be on Saturday, January 13 as they travel to Worcester Polytechnic Institute for an 8:00 p.m. game.
