WATERVILLE, Maine – The Thomas College club ice hockey team cruised to a 7-2 victory over Colby-Sawyer College on Saturday night in an American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) contest at the Camden National Bank Ice Vault.
Thomas extended their lead five minutes into the second period as Colby Blondin (Colchester, Vermont) put his team up 3-0 on an assist from Tito Naranja (Fort Kent, Maine). Four minutes later, the Chargers broke the shutout as Mike Diorio capitalized on a power play to come within two. The Terriers responded 30 seconds later as Matt Jolicoeur (Oakland, Maine) caused a turnover a ripped in a goal for a 4-1 advantage. Late in the period, Will Schmidien tallied a shorthanded marker for Colby-Sawyer as he beat Thomas goalie Michael Small (Brentwood, N.H.) on a breakaway.
The Terriers pulled away in the third period as Lamontagne added his two goals along with one from McDermott to secure the 7-2 win.
Small turned aside 17 shots in the victory for Thomas while Jarod Perkins shouldered the loss for the Chargers, stopping 35 shots.
The Terriers will travel to Bates on Friday, December 8 for a 7:00 p.m. game.
