HALLOWELL, Maine – The Thomas College club ice hockey team fell to Massachusetts Maritime Academy, 6-1, in a Northeast Collegiate Hockey Association (NECHA) Colonial Conference contest on Friday night.
The Buccaneers were led by Derek March with two goals and four assists in the winning effort.
Midway through the first period, Mass. Maritime netted back-to-back goals in under a minute from March and Clay Glennon.
The Buccaneers continued to pour it on in the second as they scored two goals from Joe Personiti and Jack Watkins in under 30 seconds at the five minute mark to take a 4-0 lead. The Terriers broke the shutout with 3:37 remaining in the period as Tito Naranja (Fort Kent, Maine) scored on a feed from Colby Blondin (Colchester, Vermont).
Mass. Maritime tacked on two more goals late in the third from Ben Baratini and March to finish the scoring at 6-1.
Tanner Brooks (Spokane, Wash.) was given the loss in goal after surrendering three goals as Tom Green (Biddeford, Maine) allowed three goals in the relief effort. Kevin Huoka earned the victory in goal for the Buccaneers.
The Terriers will hit the road on Saturday, November 18 as they travel to the USM Ice Arena to face Saint Joseph's (ME) at 5:30 p.m.
