Terriers Down Nor'easters in Regular Season Finale, 3-2

BIDDEFORD, ME – The Thomas College club ice hockey team ended their regular season schedule with a 3-2 victory over the University of New England club team in a Northeast Collegiate Hockey Association (NECHA) matchup.

In the victory, the Terriers finish the season with a .500 record at 6-6 overall and a 6-2 record in the NECHA Colonial Conference, earning them a spot on the conference playoffs.

After a scoreless first period, the Terriers found the back of the net at the 1:30 mark of the second as Alex Berard scored a power play goal on an assist from Colby Blondin.  Just under ten minutes later, the Nor'easters added the equalizer on their power play opportunity from Jackson Hickey.

Later on in the second, the Terriers regained the lead on a goal from top scorer Jason Dicey at the 14:33 mark on a feed from Berard.  Two minutes after, Blondin put Thomas up 3-1 going into the final period on an unassisted marker.

UNE looked to rally late in the third period as Dylan Porier brought his team within one with just over three minutes remaining.  The Terriers hung on the rest of the way to earn the 3-2 victory.

Junior Michael Small earned the win in goal for the Terriers while AJ Gugliara was given the loss in goal for the Nor'easters.

The Terriers will wait to hear their NECHA playoff matchup that will begin on Saturday, February 18 at Conway Arena in Nashua, New Hampshire.  Last season, Thomas fell to Norwich in the Colonial Conference Championship.
