ANDOVER, NH – The Thomas College club ice hockey team defeated Colby-Sawyer, 7-4, in a Northeast Collegiate Hockey Association (NECHA) Colonial Conference matchup on Sunday night.
In the win, Thomas improves to 4-5 (4-1 Colonial) while the Chargers stay winless at 0-5 on the year. Captain Jason Dicey finished with his second hat trick in the last two games while also adding an assist. Christo Naranja came up big with a hat trick of his own with two assists for a five-point night while Bryce Lamontagne tallied a goal and three assists.
Lamontagne got the Terriers on the board with a goal late in the first period at 16:06 on an assist from Naranja. Just over a minute later, Dicey netted his first of the game to give the Terriers a 2-0 lead after the first.
The Chargers looked to make a comeback as they got on the scoresheet at 7:39 of the second period on a goal from Jack Alissi, making it a one-goal game. Dicey answered with just under five minutes remaining to extend the Terrier lead to 3-1 going into the final period.
In the third, Naranja opened the period with his first of the game at the 4:25 mark from Lamontagne and Colby Blondin. The Chargers looked to make another run as they netted two goals in two minutes midway through the third from Cameron Perron and Tucker Andrews. Just over a minute later Naranja scored two back-to-back goals to put the game out of reach.
In the final minutes, the Chargers added another along with Dicey's third for Thomas to finish the scoring at 7-4.
Tanner Brooks earned the victory in goal for Thomas in his first start of the season while Jared Perkins was given the loss for Colby-Sawyer.
The Terriers will host the University of New England club team in a conference matchup on Friday, February 3 at 8:00 p.m.
