NASHUA, N.H. – The Thomas College ice hockey team fell to Norwich University, 7-3, in the Northeast Collegiate Hockey Association (NECHA) Colonial Conference Championship game Sunday afternoon at Conway Arena.
The Cadets found the back of the net early into the first period when Brian Goggin tapped in the first goal of the game at the 2:01 mark. Thomas responded at the 6:41 mark when Dean Pratt netted his first goal of the playoffs. Alex Nadeau and Alex Berard were credited with assists on the goal. Later into the period, the Cadets went back on top with a goal from Michael Cashman. The Terriers took advantage of their first power-play opportunity when Michael Hersom tied the game on a feed from Eric Morin. With 45 seconds remaining in the first, Norwich took the lead once again as Cody Moore beat Terrier goalie Michael Small.
Norwich began the second period with two quick goals in the first three minutes by Zach Michael to increase the lead to 5-2. The Terriers chipped away at the Norwich lead when Pratt added his second goal of the game on assists from Lukas Bohman and Morin at the 14:21 mark.
The Cadets scored two goals in the third period to finish the scoring for the game at 7-3. Moore and Michael were credited with the goals.
Small was given the loss in goal for the Terriers after stopping 41 shots while Ryan Clavette earned the win in goal for the Cadets, making 41 saves. The Cadets outshot the Terriers 48-44.
Thomas concluded its season at 11-7 overall.
