BIDDEFORD, Maine – The Thomas College ice hockey team defeated the University of New England club team, 14-4, in an American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) matchup on Sunday morning at the Harold Alfond Forum.
The Terriers began the scoring in the first period at the 5:20 mark as Jason Dicey slammed in a rebound for his twelfth goal of the season. Thomas struck again at 11:09 as Bryce Lamontagne found an open Ambrozy for an early 2-0 lead. In the next three minutes, the Terriers added two quick goals from Blondin and Eric Morin for a 4-0 lead at the end first.
Thomas began the second period with three goals in the first five minutes as Ambrozy, Kyle Mangin, and Blondin put the Terriers up 7-0. The Nor'easters netted their first goal just 20 seconds later when Jackson Hickey beat Terrier goalie Michael Small. To finish the second period, Thomas netted four straight goals to give them an 11-1 lead. Michael Hersom, Lamontange, Dean Pratt, and Ben Wheeler each scored for the Terriers.
In the third period each team netted three goals to finish the scoring at 14-4. Joey Campisano, Hickey, and Anthony Paul each netted a goal for the Nor'easters while Terriers received two goals from Berard and one from Alex Nadeau.
Small earned the victory in goal for the Terriers, stopping 16 shots while Nate Stoddard was given the loss for the Nor'easters after making 28 saves. Senior Dakota Gendreau took over in goal for the Terriers for the third period and stopped 11 shots.
The Terriers outshot the Nor'easters 42-31 and had a 30-22 advantage in face-offs.
The Terriers will head to Connecticut for two conference games next weekend to face New Haven and United States Coast Guard Academy.
