WINSLOW, Maine – The Thomas College hockey shut out Bates College, 4-0, in an American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) contest at Sukee Arena on Friday night.
Leading scorer Jason Dicey recorded two goals and an assist to lead Thomas (5-5).
Thomas got on the scoreboard at the 6:21 mark of the first period. After killing off the only power play of the period by Bates, Eric Morin found Dicey skating up the side on an odd-man rush. Dicey took the shot himself, beating the Bates' goaltender for a 1-0 lead. Dicey would add his second of the game at 16:34 when he stole the puck from a Bates defenseman to put the Terriers up 2-0 at the end of the first.
In a scoreless second period, the Terriers outshot the Bobcats, 12-10. Bates was given its only power-play opportunity of the game but could not beat Thomas goaltender Connor Blair.
The Terriers struck just nine seconds into the third period when Michael Hersom found Morin to increase the lead to 3-0. Thomas tallied its fourth goal of the game two minutes later as Dean Pratt slammed in a rebound shot.
Blair earned the shutout victory in goal for Thomas stopping all 33 shots while Ben Berger was given the loss in goal for the Bobcats, making 28 saves. The Terriers outshot the Bobcats, 33-32, and held a 33-22 advantage in face-offs.
The Terriers will head out on the road on Sunday, January 24 at the University of New England for a 11:00 a.m. matchup
