WINSLOW, ME --- Eric Morin and Alex Nadeau both had two goals and an assist and Jason Dicey had another four-point night to lead Thomas College to a 7-4 victory over the University of New England on Friday night at Sukee Arena.
UNE lit the lamp first as Anthony Paul scored just 1:28 into the game on a shot directly in front of Thomas goalie Connor Blair that Blair was not able to cover in time. Mike Finnegan was credited with the assist on the play.
The Terriers (1-4, 1-2 NECHA Colonial North) responded at the 3:22 mark of the first period as Nadeau found Dean Pratt in a 2-on-2 situation to knot the score. Thomas added two more goals in the period as Dicey scored off a feed from the corner by Morin at the 4:48 mark and Nadeau dropped in an open shot from the right circle off a pass from Dicey at the 14:58 mark. Michael Hersom was also credited with assists on the latter two goals.
The scoring streak continued after the first intermission as Cameron Foggo tallied his first career goal off assists from Alex Berard and Christo Naranja 3:53 in and Eric Morin beat UNE goalie Kenny Joseph gloveside from the slot at the 7:37 mark.
UNE countered midway through the period as Tommy Dzis scored on a shot from the right circle that Blair failed to cover.
Nadeau tallied his second goal of the game at the 13:49 mark, taking a one-time pass from Eric Crowley in the corner and beating Joseph through the 5-hole.
Dzis kept the Nor'easters close, scoring with under five minutes to go in the period on a shot from outside the circles that beat Blair top shelf.
The Morin-Dicey-Hersom line wasted little time getting the Terriers on the board to start the third period. Just 48 seconds in, Dicey sent a shot on goal that Hersom redirected across to Morin, who beat Joseph for his second goal of the game. Hersom and Dicey were credited with assists, giving them both three for the game.
UNE closed out the scoring with 10:24 to play as Joey Campisano's shot from the point was redirected past Blair by a Thomas player. Drew Sommerhof and Dzis assisted on the goal.
Blair got the win between the pipes for Thomas, totaling 29 saves. Joseph made 40 saves for UNE.
The Terriers outshot the Nor'easters, 53-34, in the contest.
Thomas returns to the ice at 1 p.m. Sunday for another NECHA Colonial Conference matchup, this time against Lyndon State College. The Hornets (1-5) have a Saturday evening meeting with UNE in Biddeford before facing the Terriers at Sukee Arena.
