WATERVILLE, ME - The Thomas club ice hockey team dropped a 12-3 game against the University of New England on Sunday afternoon at Sukee Arena.
The Terriers (0-1-1) fell behind 3-0 early before connecting on their first goal five minutes into the second period, when Kyle Hoxie put home his first goal of the season on assists from Michael Hersom and Jason Dicey.
After another UNE goal made it 4-1, Hoxie struck again for his second goal on a pass from Tim Bradford. That was the closest Thomas would be in the game as the Noreasters scored three unanswered for a 7-2 lead after two periods.
Tanner Brooks and Michael Small split time in net for Thomas, as Brooks recorded 23 saves on 28 shots, and Small had 14 saves on 21 shots faced. Stephen Blank recorded 24 saves in the win for the Noreasters.
John Ryan, Jarrett Stork and Todd Membrey all scored three goals apiece for UNE as they held a 49-27 shot advantage over Thomas.
The club hockey team next hits the ice on Friday, November 14 as they travel to take on WPI at 8:50pm.
