WATERVLLE, ME - Thomas College defeated the University of Maine Farmington with a score of 2-1 in a Central Maine Collegiate Conference (CMCC) hockey contest on Tuesday night at Sukee Ice Arena.
The first period displayed strong defensive plays from each team, as the score was 0-0 for the majority of the period. Garron LaFountain eventually broke the deadlock with an assist from Michael Hersom to give the Terriers a 1-0 lead going into the first intermission.
The Beavers came to the ice with a determination in second, as they were able to even the score at one apiece to end the second period.
With a heated third period, the Terriers would rouse the Beavers with another score by LaFountain assisted by Hersom and Jason Dicey. The final minute of the match tested the abilities of the Terriers with a surge from the Beavers, who intended to tie the game. Goalie Tanner Brooks held strong in net however, not allowing UMF to even the score.
The Terriers will play their final regular season game on Thursday, March 6, at 8pmagainst Colby College. Thomas will recognize its lone senior Joseph Caraglia prior to the game.
