WATERVILLE, ME - Thomas College ice hockey extended their winning streak to three games, their largest of the season on Thursday night, defeating Unity, 7-0, in a Central Maine Collegiate Conference (CMCC) showdown at Sukee Arena.
The Terriers would ignite the lead, with a shot delivered smoothly into the net by Jason Dicey, assisted by Eric Crawley and Cody LeBlanc during the final minutes of the first period. The Rams, left scoreless, rallied against the Terriers with an attempted retaliation effort but would not be succesful.
Dakota Duplissie raised the scoreboard with roughly 1:00 on the clock in the second period, going into the second intermission with a 2-0 advantage.
Thomas came out with renewed energy in the closing period, tallying five unanswered goals, while playing sound defense to preserve the shutout. Dicey positioned the puck into the net to begin an electrifying third period for the Terriers. Tim Bradford followed in the pursuit soon after. Alex Lawson added another score with a snipe from the point to give the Red and Black a comfortable 5-0 lead. Dicey scored his third goal of the event with 10:00 left on the clock, while Eric Morin solidified the victory for the Terriers with a goal in the closing minutes of the game.
Dakota Gendreau recorded his second win in as many games, making 18 stops in route to his first collegiate shutout.
Thomas will next play Worcester Polytechnic Institute in an American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) game Saturday at 12:30 PM at Sukee Arena.
