WATERVILLE, ME – Thomas was able to extend their winning streak to two games, defeating Maine Maritime Academy, 10-5 in a Central Maine Collegiate Conference (CMCC) hockey tilt on Monday night. Freshman Kyle Mangin recorded a hat-trick in the winning effort.
The Mariners jumped to an early 1-0 lead, scoring just minutes into the contest. Thomas however would respond with four consecutive goals, coming from Mangin, Michael Hersom, Dylan Fernandez, and Garron LaFountain. MMA tacked on a late tally to cut the deficit at the first intermission to 4-2.
Terrier defensemen Lukas Bohman kicked off the scoring in the second with a rip from the point off a pass from classmate Matt Letellier. The away side countered with two goals to keep the game in reach midway through the contest. In the later minutes of the second, Mangin would record his second of the night off the stick of Jason Dicey.
Thomas would hold the Mariners to one goal in final period, while adding four to cushion their lead. In the final stanza the scoring came from LaFountain, Timothy Bradford, Mangin, and Bohman.
Hersom finished with one goal and two helpers, while line mate Dicey recorded three assists in his Terrier debut. LaFountain also had a solid three point night, registering two goals and one assist.
Dakota Gendreau recorded the victory between the pipes, making 22 saves on the night.
Thomas will return to CMCC action next Thursday as they take on Unity College at 10pm.
