BANGOR, Maine – The Thomas College baseball team fell to Northern Vermont University-Lyndon 10-4 in their opening game of the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Tournament on Friday afternoon at Husson University.
The Hornets opened the scoring in the bottom half of the first when Caleb Laroche lofted a sacrifice fly to center, scoring a run and giving the Hornets the lead. Lyndon tacked on three more runs in the bottom of the second to go up 4-0.
Thomas got on the board in the top of the third inning with a Ryan Kappelmann (Auburn, Maine) base hit to right driving in a run to cut the lead to 4-1. Lyndon would extend their lead again in the fourth with two runs, then added three more in the seventh and one in the eighth to make it 10-1.
Thomas picked up three runs in the ninth with a bases loaded double by Alexander Miller (Brandon, Fla.) that brought three runs in to score to make it a 10-4 final.
Dylan Copeland (Salisbury, Mass.) took the loss for Thomas, allowing four runs on five hits in 1.1 innings of work.
Thomas will take on No. 4 UMaine-Farmington in an elimination game on Saturday, May 4 at 12:00 PM. The complete tournament schedule, including results from Friday's games, is listed below.
