LEWISTON, Maine – The Thomas College baseball team fell to Bates 16-3 in a non-conference game on Monday afternoon.
After four and a half scoreless innings, the Bobcats broke the scoring open with five runs in the bottom of the fifth. The Terriers answered back with three runs of their own in the top of the sixth to cut the lead to 5-3. Alexander Miller (Brandon, Fla.) drove in a run on an RBI single and later came in to score on a Ryan Kappelmann (Auburn, Maine) hit. Bradly Smith (Ellsworth, Maine) also scored in the inning on a groundout. Bates got those runs back in the bottom of the inning, the scored eight times in the eight to take the 16-3 victory.
Ryan Jurgiewich (Medway, Maine) took the loss for Thomas, allowing three runs on five hits in 4.2 innings of work.
Thomas will visit UMaine-Farmington in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) doubleheader on Tuesday, April 23 at 4:00 PM.
