AUBURNDALE, Fla. – The Thomas College baseball team dropped a pair in a doubleheader with St. Thomas on Sunday.
GAME 1: St. Thomas 2, Thomas 1
St. Thomas picked up the early lead with a run in the top half of the first to go up 1-0. Pitcher Jacob Lacroix (Berwick, Maine) cruised through the next three innings to hold the lead at one. The Terriers tied it up in the bottom of the fourth when Dominic Esposito (Portland, Maine) hit a bases-loaded single that brought Nicholas Cousins (Wells, Maine) in to score. The Tommies took the lead back in the next inning, however, and went on to the 2-1 victory.
Lacroix pitched the complete game effort for Thomas, allowing the two runs while scattering seven hits with three strikeouts and no walks.
GAME 2: Thomas 1, St. Thomas 6
After a scoreless first, the Tommies put three on the board in the second inning, then added two more in the third to take control at 5-0. The Terriers got a run back in the top of the fourth when Darren Kelly (Foxboro, Mass.) singled Alexander Baker (South Berwick, Maine) in to score. St. Thomas got another un in the sixth to move on to the 6-1 victory.
Matt Hurley (Old Orchard Beach, Maine) took the loss for Thomas, throwing 1.1 innings and allowing three runs.
Thomas will play DePauw and Middlebury in a doubleheader starting at 9:45 AM on Tuesday, March 26 at Lake Myrtle Park in Auburndale, Fla.
