Errors Trouble Terriers in Loss to Colby, 6-2

WATERVILLE, Maine – The Thomas College baseball team allowed four unearned runs in a 6-2 non-conference loss to Colby College on Thursday afternoon.

The Mules improve to 5-15 on the year, including a 3-0 mark against the Terriers this season while Thomas falls to 3-24.

Colby capitalized on a pair of Thomas miscues early in the first inning to take a 3-0 lead.  William Wessman reached on a fielder's choice to score Will Phillips.  The Terriers cut the deficit down to two runs in the second as John Villanueva (Gray, Maine) scored on a ground out.

The Mules extended the lead with a pair of runs in the fourth on back-to-back singles by Phillips and Matt Treveloni.

Later on in the bottom of the eighth, the Terriers added a run as Isaiah Arana (Orlando, Fla.) reached on a throwing error after stealing third base.  Colby finished the scoring at 6-2 in the ninth on Wessman's second RBI of the game.

Matt Garcia earned the win on the mound for the Mules in two innings of relief, surrendering one hit. 

Quinton Stebbins (Farmingdale, Maine) was given the loss for Thomas, allowing three unearned runs in the first inning.  Nate Martin (China, Maine), Payton Kennison (Livermore, Maine), Trevor Hinson (Whittier, Cal.) held Colby scoreless in relief.

The Terriers will host Bowdoin at home tomorrow in a 4:15 p.m. matchup.
